Tuesday Treat: Waffling

A good waffle is one of the best things that I can imagine for a lazy weekend brunch.

Sometimes, I like mine with just butter and syrup, but I’ve been known to put berries and whipped cream on top as well… or maybe fried chicken.

In any event, if you want to make really good waffles you need a really good waffle maker.

You could maybe, just maybe, win one today!

The Giveaway

There’s no two ways about it – if you want waffles, you need a waffle maker. As far as I know, there’s no way to jury rig a waffle maker.

On top of that, there are a lot of bad waffle makers out there on the market. In fact, I would place my current waffle maker in the category of not great waffle makers.

In my opinion, a really good waffle maker will make large, round waffles, with deep holes. It will be heavy and durable and you can spin it so it ensures the waffle cooks evenly.

Today, I’m giving away two waffle makers that I consider to be really good, the Waring Pro Stainless Steel Belgium Waffle Maker.

If you don’t have a waffle maker, you want this.  If you do have a waffle maker, you might still want to upgrade to this.

Just imagine… if you win it, you can host a serious chicken and waffles party!

Tuesday Treat Rules

Just a reminder about the Tuesday Treat rules.

The whole idea behind these giveaways is that they are quick. This contest will close at 8PM Eastern time tonight (Tuesday) and I’ll pick TWO winners at random. That means that you have just 12 hours to sign up.

Unfortunately, I can’t ship internationally so just U.S. entries please.

Those two winners will be in waffle heaven!

How to enter?

I’m trying a new system for running the Tuesday Treats today. It’s called Punchtab and lets you earn more chances to win based on actions. So, if you follow me on Twitter, for example, you’ll earn extra entries in the giveaway.

You can enter the giveaway either by connecting via Facebook or leaving your email address (not used for evil I promise). Easy breezy. Also, if you’re reading this in an email, you’ll need to go to the website to enter.

Good luck everyone!

Congrats to September (comment) and Whitney (email entry)! They won the waffle makers!

  1. Having lived in Belgium I’m serious about beer, chips and waffles. I love the gooey ones with sugar crystals all hot on a cold day, yum!

  2. So many of these waffle makers don’t do the trick! Thanks for the recommendation and the giveaway!

  3. The only times I’ve had waffles in years has been in hotels before bar exams. Be nice to be able to have waffles associated with more fun days!

  4. WANT! Savory waffles…whaaat?! If I have this, then get the soda stream and the ice cream maker, our new condo will be complete and we’ll never need to leave!

  5. I’ve wanted a waffle maker for a long time! Thanks for the opportunity to maybe score one! =)

  6. My Mom’s favorite food is waffles, I’ve burned up 2 waffle irons keeping her happy (age 84) would love to win this would make waffles a breeze!

  7. A waffle iron is one of those things I’ve always wanted, but have never been able to justify buying myself one. Maybe now I won’t have to wait til I get married some day to register for one!

  8. I’ve never had a waffle maker! Would be fun to make waffles instead of pancakes once in a while.

  9. Once my mom got my sister a $50 gas card for dog sitting and left it on the table next to our family’s really old waffle maker (think 1980s crappy appliance). Mom asked her “did you find yoyr gift?” My sister was all excited because she had taken the waffle maker instead of the gift card. When mom explained it she couldn’t have cared less for the gas card. Needless to say mom let her keep the waffle maker too! They just seem to generate that much excitement!

  10. I splurged on an All-Clad waffle maker a year or so ago and I still can’t believe the difference a good waffler can make. I now make a double or triple batch whenever I make waffles so that I can freeze the leftovers for breakfasts during the week. (Homemade frozen waffle + toaster + spread on top = the perfect breakfast for hectic mornings.) I would love another nice waffler for my mother-in-law who makes great waffles but is still using an old (and slow) machine from many moons ago!

  11. I was JUST thinking this weekend how nice it would be to have a waffle maker and was so close to running to the store to get one to satisfy a huge chicken and waffles craving. I must say, this is pretty perfect timing!

  12. My husband loves waffles but sadly I do not have a waffle maker, this giveaway could really help me out.

  13. I have an old slow waffle iron and would love to have this new one! Thanks for the chance to win!

  14. My husband is a huge waffle fan. We have been using the same waffle iron that someone gave us used 15 years ago. He uses it at least once a week for weekend waffles. It’s on it’s last leg.

  15. I would love this! My current waffle maker is about 8 years old and I think it came free with my toaster oven. It’s def. time for an upgrade!!

  16. That’s the kind of waffle maker that was in my college dining hall on the weekends. We used to make amazing waffles that were perfect the morning after a night of drinking :)

  17. I’ll bet this one wouldn’t have the waffles sticking to the top when opened like my old one! Would love to have a new one!

  18. RIght now we have a cast iron camp style waffle iron that we need to manually turn over the stove. Makes good waffles, but this seems like it would be so much easier.. yumm.. waffles…

  19. Oh, man. I keep trying to explain to all my friends the sheer awesomeness of chicken and waffles, but they don’t understand. Maybe just tricking them into eating it is the only way.

  20. I have such fond memories of my Mom and waffles. It was a Saturday night treat, she would make me waffles and ice cream with whip cream and chocolate syrup!
When she babysit our kids she would make them this just before she left. Moms gone but the memories live on.
We all miss those waffles, never got around to buying one though…

  21. I made waffles as a special treat for my Dad… they remind me of him, loveable curmudgeon. The waffle iron went when he did… I would love to make waffles again.

  22. I also have a waffle maker that falls into the “not so great” category. A great one would be awesome!!!

  23. I’ve been meaning to get a waffle iron for ages- especially after I found a recipe for making falafel in one. Thanks for having this giveaway!

  24. Last time I made chicken and waffles they were ham and cheese waffles and it was ultra decadent. Unfortunately that waffle maker has broken and I have yet to replace it. This would be a great opportunity to share with my friends this artery clogging wonder.

  25. waffles and strawberries! waffles and fried chicken! waffles and just more waffles! yippee!

  26. the “waffle maker” I have is just technically two plates that attach to a giant George Foreman grill. it is definitely not ideal!

  27. My waffle iron broke a few months ago and oh how I have missed it. My son has a waffle iron similar to the one you are giving away and I have wanted it since he let me use it. Thanks for offering this giveaway.

  28. I’m not much of a waffle eater but my husband loves them. I would also love to try non-waffle things in the waffle iron (sandwiches, brownies, etc). So many great uses!

  29. Not sure why, but it won’t let me complete the entry for following you on Twitter! It just opens another tab with your Twitter feed, where it says I’m following you, but then it doesn’t enter me for it :( Is anyone else having an issue?

    1. Hey Jessica, if you are already following me, it should just let you click “Thanks” or something and get points for it. You shouldn’t have to unfollow/refollow me…

  30. A waffle iron would be a blessing! I am already imagining all the yummy waffles my 4 kids will enjoy! Thanks!

  31. Waffles…Waaaffllles. Waffles are Grandma and bacon popping and getting milk in your own special cup. Grandma made sure all the holes were full of butter and syrup, and nobody knows how she did it but somehow everyone got their waffle at once, but you had to wait on seconds. Just the thought of waffles makes me six years old but at the same time I am, miraculously, a responsible adult capable of operating a large heated kitchen apparatus for recreating Grandma’s magic. Waaaffllles…

  32. I LOVE waffles so much. I ended up buying a $9 one from Walmart that’s pretty crappy, but hey, it still gives me waffles. I would love to win one that’s actually decent!! Thanks for doing this giveaway! :)

  33. Oh, my. This makes me hungry for some waffles and I’ve never made them myself. Maybe I will have to invest in a decent waffle maker now.

  34. I used to have a not so good waffle maker but it finally died =(. I have not replaced it because when I do, I would like it to be a good one! Thanks!

  35. Hey there, my kids would love waffles made in my new waffler…..love it. Enjoy your post and Jamies pie was awesome.

um … what question in the comments?

  37. follow you on RSS and don’t miss a post! Even bought you book and am working through the beans! Awesome and congratulations on an awesome blog!

  38. Best part of breakfast included hotels is their waffle maker! The one in Kerrville, TX, had a Texas shaped waffle. Awesome! I’m pretty sure this isn’t the right way to enter the contest but the website keeps saying “loading giveaway.” Oh well, I never win anyway….

  39. Always been a fan of waffles, but haven’t had a waffle iron in years. A waffle maker would be awesome.

  40. Woah, I don’t think I’ve even seen one of those waffle irons that spins outside of an official brunch buffet at a hotel (or the JE dining hall, ha!) That would be truly awesome to own!

  41. I have been drooling over a waffle maker like this for AGES! I could eat waffles for every meal.

  42. UGHHHHHHH I’ve been wanting to get one so I can make my girlfriend and I chicken and waffles (or chicken and waffle sliders, if it’s for dinner…)!

  43. We have a waffle iron that’s done the job for years, especially since I got it for around 4 dollars on sell at Target, probably… ten years ago or so? BUT lately my boyfriend has been wistfully commenting that he wishes he could have BELGIAN waffles. This would be the perfect solution!

  44. Love getting your emails! Thanks for using punchtab! What an easy way to sign up for contests!

  45. I would lean toward the savory waffles – cheese and green onion topped with a slaw sounds soo good right now!

  46. I have been looking at this waffler maker and trying to figure out a way to save enough to buy one, great giveaway! Can’t wait for Palisade peaches, soon I will be making a trip to your part of the state!

  47. I love waffles! My husband is obsessed with them! What a great way to make the best food out there.

  48. Breakfast, in my opinion, is the best meal of the day, and waffles are like having a dozen mini-cups on your plate to hold in all the goodness.

  49. This is an awesome waffle maker – I’ve been wanting one for years! One of my friends just got the double waffle version of this for their wedding, excellent for making waffles for groups of people.

  50. What a fun giveaway! This is one of those items I’d probably never buy for myself, but always want to have.

  51. My wife and I have debates on the merits of waffles versus pancakes. Sadly she is in the pancake camp. I on the other hand, can’t think of a single reason to have a pancake when waffles are an option!

  52. We love waffles at our house. My husband makes peach syrup for special occasions and sometimes we put ice cream on them.

  53. Waffles are amazing and so are you! Such a great Tuesday Treat. And yes, waffles and fried chicken or fried catfish is the way to go! YUM!

  54. I have great memories of Saturday mornings with my ex-boyfriend, making waffles and coffee. He’s long gone but I still miss the waffles!

  55. What a great give away : ) Look out frozen waffles you may soon receive an eviction notice to vacate my freezer!

  56. I really want to make fawaffles (falafel made on a waffle iron), but I have no waffle iron! This would be perfect!

  57. oh boy – that waffle iron is a far cry from my George Foreman grill with changeable plates that sometimes pretends to be a waffle iron.

  58. Cool! My waffle maker always cooks unevenly so they’re always partially over and under cooked. A new one would be awesome.

  59. Ohhhhh I have always wanted one of these, brings back memories of my Meemaw making waffles and the wonderful smell waking us all up. Pretty sure she never had to say a word, that smell was all it took!

  60. We so desperately need a new waffle iron. I hate ours and its past the point where I can get and keep it clean.

  61. My college-age son is learning on his own to cook and so far is doing a fantastic job. He even won a chili contest at his college–the 12 judges deemed his the best! He is a chef in the making with an emphasis on cooking healthy. If I won, the waffle iron will be his. ~Proud Momster :)

  62. My waffle iron is from 1974 and I believe it to be on its last legs. I would love to replace it with something just as exceptional as it has been.

  63. I generally don’t allow facebook apps, but I caved and signed up. What can I say, I really love waffles. Now I need somebody get a me good waffle recipe. Extra points if it has some protein and/or whole grains in it!

  64. Ooh.. would love one of these! I have a waffle iron that’s older than me (and I’m not a spring chick!). I bought it at a garage sale many years ago. It works but its kind of scary. Great giveaway. Thanks for the chance!

  65. Great site, I haven’t tried making any of the recipes yet, but I did pick up the ingredients for the stuffed corn cakes.

  66. I seriously need a new waffle maker! The one I have does NOT have deep wholes and it’s almost like eating a really thick pancake. It’s terrible!

  67. Wow! A waffle maker would be so awesome to have since I never had one! I buy the waffles at the store when there on sale. My 5 grandchildren would be very happy also having bigger waffles. Plus I could make my little fussy one a plain one. Lol.

  68. Waffles! I have the best memories of Sunday morning breakfasts with my Dad manning the waffle iron.

  69. My younger son loves waffles. He’s taking college classes this summer and has his own place. I would love to surprise him with this wonderful waffle maker. Fingers crossed! Thanks so much.

  70. ooo! I love waffles!! Not too sweet and you can pretend they’re healthy by puttiung fruit on top! We’d love to get the wafflemaker!

  71. I love waffles, and it’s time for me to admit defeat with the cast-iron waffle maker I optimistically bought for camping. My favorite waffle recipe is Fannie Farmer’s Buttermilk Waffles.

  72. I have a waffle iron already… but it’s neither round, nor does it have deep holes. I got it before I’d ever truly had decent waffles so I didn’t understand the error of my ways, but now I hardly ever make waffles anymore just because they’re never the perfect belgian waffles I want!
