Tuesday Treat: Cornerstone (Signed)!

It has been a few weeks since I published my first ever cookbook, Cornerstone Cooking.

I have yet to meet my goal of selling one million copies (joking), but I’ve sold more than I was expecting in this amount of time which I’m really happy about!

More importantly, it seems like people are generally liking the book based on Amazon reviews.

A few people emailed me though and said, “Dude!  You didn’t even give away copies of your own book!”

True.  I did give away hundreds of dollars of stuff, but I didn’t give away any actual copies. A possible oversight that I intend to correct with this post!

Cornerstone Cooking

If you’ve read Macheesmo at all over the last few weeks, you probably know at least a small amount about the book because I’ve been blabbering about it nonstop.

Basically, the book is centered around eight cornerstone dishes.  These are dishes that you can make in bulk, but are also things that people tend to have leftover in the fridge.  Stuff like shredded chicken, bread, and ice cream for example.

Each chapter then goes into detail about how to use leftovers of those cornerstone dishes.  There’s a variety of recipes for using leftovers from each cornerstone dish from a variety of cuisines so you won’t get sick of the the same flavor profile even if you’re using the same base ingredient.

If you hate wasting leftovers (or food in general), you’ll want this book.

If you like saving money and time, you’ll want this book.

The Giveaway

Short and sweet, I’m giving away three SIGNED copies of the book TODAY.

Also, coincidentally, my blogger friend Dawn is doing a giveaway on her blog this week as well so if you bop over there and leave a comment on her interview with me, you can also maybe win a copy.

But Nick… I already bought a copy!

That’s awesome and you rule.  The copies for this giveaway will be signed which is maybe a plus depending on your opinion of me!

So, if you win this copy, you can send your other copy to a friend or family member! Or you can just horde them…

Tuesday Treat Rules

Just a reminder about the Tuesday Treat rules.

The whole idea behind these giveaways is that they are quick. This contest will close at 7PM Eastern time tonight (Tuesday) and I’ll pick THREE winners at random. That means that you have just 12 hours to sign up.

Unfortunately, I can’t ship internationally so just U.S. entries please.

Those three winners will get a signed copy of Cornerstone Cooking sent to their doorstep.

How to enter?

It doesn’t get much easier. Just leave a comment and you’re entered!

If you happen to be reading this in an email, you need to comment on the actual post to be entered please.

Good luck everyone!

Winners!

Thanks for all the kind comments everyone!  They were really fun to read, especially from those of you that already have the book!  The winners for the giveaway are Colleen, Trey, and Sabrina!

For those of you that didn’t win, sorry that I can’t give one to everybody. I wish I could.  Of course, you can still BUY IT THOUGH

  1. Sign me up for a entry!

I love your stuff Nick, and even though I’m not in the US my brother is, so please take this entry on his behalf. He loved corn dip when I made it for him here at Christmas!

  2. I REALLY would love to have your cookbook. I made a commitment to not buy ANY cookbooks for all of 2012. Winning would not be buying. =) Keeping my fingers crossed.
    Candace

  3. Such a great concept for a book. Very practical. Who can afford to make all the great recipes in other books and then what do you do with leftovers of all those random ingredients you had to buy?

  4. Would love to win a cookbook! I’m a new fan of your blog and can’t wait to start trying your recipes!

  5. I am sorry that i can`t join this because i live in Norway, but i still love your blog:)
The best of luck selling your (first) million copies

  6. I would love to see what you put together with Cornerstone Cooking! Thanks for continuing to do what you do best, Nick!

  7. Nick,

I was planning to buy a copy from Amazon, but haven’t placed my order yet. Perhaps I’ll win a copy instead… if not, I’ll definitely be buying it from Amazon. Look forward to adding it to our collection, regardless of how we obtain it.

  8. I have been reading your site for about a year and just LOVE it! I am making your hard chicken tacos for dinner tonight. Many of your recipes have become family favorites. I love the concept for this book, I hope I am lucky enough to win a signed copy.

  14. I don’t have/want many cookbooks (I just use the interwebz these days) but I would really enjoy a copy of yours!

  15. I’m new to this website, but was drawn to it because of your cornerstone idea. I love the idea of one dish serving as a base for multiple other dishes, because who hasn’t thrown away leftovers because you just couldn’t eat the same thing one more time?

  16. What a great idea for a cookbook and in the running to be picked for my first Cook Book Club meeting.

  17. Would LOVE to have a copy, my son is moving out on his own and this would be an awesome gift for him, he uses a lot of your recipes already!!!
    Thanks,
    Marianne

  22. I LOVE leftovers, but my sister-in-law hates them, for reasons beyond my comprehension. I think your book may be just the thing I need to make my sister-in-law a leftover lover like me.

  32. Is was so excited when your book came out, but at the moment (planning a wedding, moving across country from CA to Annapolis, grad school and student loans), I’ve been trying hard to not buy a lot of ‘extras’. I’d love a copy of this cookbook, particularly as I’m REALLY working on planning our meals better to save money. Grad school and weddings are expensive! I need to learn to love leftovers!! If I don’t win, I’m putting the cookbook on our Amazon registry!

  33. I love your website! You taught me how to make homemade pizza and I’ve become quite good at it if I may say so myself. I love leftovers, so this would be an awesome opportunity!

  56. I just discovered your site last week (link from NibbleMeThis) and after poking around for a few minutes I went straight to Amazon and ordered your book. I haven’t had a chance to try any of your recipes yet (last weekend was Chris’ Jamaican jerk chicken–excellent), but the book looks great (as do the brown butter cookies on this site). I would happily send replace my current copy of the book with a signed one!

  57. I’d love to win a copy of your book! Always love flipping through recipe books to see if there’s anything I can make or adapt in some way!

  60. Hey Nick, bought your cookbook already and have made quite a few recipes from it so far! I made the Chicken tortilla soup, the potato skins, and tonight I think I’ll make the gnocchi. Those black bean tacos look amazing so I’m sure those will hit the repertoire soon as well. If I win a copy from you, I’ll give my first copy to my best friend who also loves to cook!

  62. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your blog! I’m a single mom with a 7-year-old “picky eater” of a daughter. I’ve tried a few of your recipes at home and was amazed at how easy, quick, and delicious they were. My daughter never complained once, because her mouth was too full! Thanks again and keep the fabulous recipes and tips coming!

  63. I’d love to win your cookbook, Nick. I like how you keep your blog and recipes real. I too like to cook from scratch, but sometimes you just don’t have any homemade stock in the freezer.

  64. Got your cookbook, made the flank steak on Sunday – Steak salad tonight! So far I’m loving it! Would love a signed copy though!

  68. How were the lobsters? My husband and I have birthdays one month apart, so we usually split the difference and celebrate in the middle. What was your source for the lobsters? Thanks, Nick.
