The Internet Kitchen: Tree vs. Cat

The Internet Kitchen: Tree vs. Cat

I’m pretty sure that Tipsy is waging war on our Christmas tree this year. She spends most of her day stalking around it, looking for an opportunity to attack. When she’s not hunting the tree, she’s napping – presumably to recoup her energy for the next attack.

Of course the tree wins most of the rounds due to its spikes of pain, but every once in a while she’ll score a hit and rip off a few needles.

After a few failed attacks though I think she is taking a larger plan of attack. She’s learned that she can sneak around to the back of the tree and drink all the water out of it’s holder, thereby starving it into submission.

I think she’ll be very sad when Christmas is over!

Let’s try something a bit abstract this week for the poll…

And a few links as always that will hopefully help with your holiday cooking!

Potato Gratin with Rosemary Crust – One of the prettier dishes I’ve seen on the web this week. Total food porn for me. The layers are just spectacular. (@ Bitten Word)

Garlic Butter Mushrooms – I think I’m going to make this as an appetizer next weekend. These guys with some nice crusty bread. I’m not going to tell anyone else that I’m making them so I can eat them all, but they will be made. (@ Smitten Kitchen)

Scandinavian Roses – I must say that I’ve never seen such a thing before in my life. The idea of dipping iron molds in batter and frying them in those shapes is amazing though. Such an original dessert! (@ Pinch My Salt)

Chocolate Pecan Pie – Get out of town. I’m not a huge pecan pie fan normally but how could you not want this immediately? I may have to give this one a shot also. (@ David Lebovitz)

Have a great weekend everyone! Good luck with any last minute gift buying you’re doing!

  1. Garlic Butter mushrooms – also good on an arugula salad with shaved parmesan! i made them last night. Just a drizzle of olive oil and salt and pepper on the salad and top with the mushrooms and that yummy juice! Delicious…
