The Internet Kitchen: The Crazy Month!

The Internet Kitchen: The Crazy Month!

Jump to Recipe

Today signifies the start of one of the crazier months of my life since graduating college. To start off, Betsy and I are going to Italy for our delayed honeymoon for the next two weeks! As you might imagine, we are both incredibly pumped to eat good food, drink good wine, and take in some sites.

We’re renting a car for part of the trip and I’m in charge of driving which I’m not too worried about but a little worried about because the only Italian I speak is what I learned from Family Guy (link is video with sound). Anyway, I’m sure we’ll be fine.

But then… as soon as we get back from Italy we have start packing up because we’re moving to Colorado at the end of the month! For those that are curious, we found out that we’re moving to a smallish town in the Western Slope region of Colorado called Grand Junction. We’re excited! But it also means that the next month is going to be crazy.

The highlight of the move will without a doubt be the two day cross-country car ride that Tipsy and I are taking alone at the end of the month. That’s going to be a guaranteed good time.

Of course, the downside of all of this is that my Macheesmo postings might be a bit more infrequent then normal over the next month because, well, I probably won’t have access to a kitchen or a computer for most of it.

I do plan to post at least a few times a week though, and I’m planning on posting Daily Photos throughout the month because those are fun and quick.

In fact, speaking of Daily Photos, I’m starting a series of photos today that will last for most of the month. It’s a series of photos I’ve been taking on my walk to and from work. I walk by some pretty interesting stuff in the city everyday and I thought I’d share it with you all. The first photo in the series will post today at 2PM EST!

No poll for a while because, like I said, no kitchen for a while!

Links though!

Why America Doesn’t Eat Veggies (Plus Letters) – As I ate my big lunch salad one day at work, I read this article about how America just isn’t getting the message on vegetables. I’m sorry but it really baffles me that people can’t see beyond their next meal. Have a salad once a day. It’ll change your life. Seriously. (@ NY Times)

10 Reasons Dieting is Idiotic – I like Darya because she’s a great writer and she’s blunt as hell. If you try to lose weight by dieting, statistically, you are going to not only fail, but gain weight because of it. (@ Summer Tomato)

Fig “Newtons” – I swoon! I used to love these things as a kid but I havn’t had them in quite awhile honestly. Homemade with really good figs though? Count me in! (@ Modern Domestic)

How to Make Duck Confit – This is on my list of something I want to try as soon as I move to Colorado. Why wait? Because I have no space and no time before then! (@ Ruhlman)

Doggity! (Contains Videos) – A longtime reader (Kevin of Berkshire Grains) emailed me about a fun children’s show that his wife has been working on for many years. It’s finally going to be featured on PBS Sprout on Saturday mornings! It’s geared toward teaching 4-7 year olds healthy and responsible eating. That’s a goal I can get behind! (@ Doggity)

Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. Italy – very jealous. Have fun and eat your heart out.

If you're in Tuscany, you should go see Dario Cecchini, the butcher featured in the book Heat. You've probable heard of him? He was also on an episode of No Reservations. He seems crazy, but good crazy.

  2. Bon voyage.
Have a beautiful trip and beware of the Italian drivers (especially in Rome) even as pedestrians.
