The Internet Kitchen: Reunion!

Betsy and I are taking a short road trip to my home town for the weekend for my ten year high school reunion.

I’m fairly certain that it’s going to be a mind trip. I haven’t seen many of the people who will be there in many years so it’ll be great to catch up with old friends.

I’m pretty sure that there will be a fair amount of alcohol involved to lubricate the memories as well…

When I get back, I want to cook something from the new Bon Appetit, which is probably my favorite issue of the year: The Grilling Issue! You pick though!

And a few links…

The Way We Eat Now – A lengthy, but very thoughtful article discussing some of the current issues with the way we approach food these days. It’s written with England in mind, but I think it applies well to food in the US also. (@ Independent UK)

Marinated Squid Tacos – Oh how I miss squid. I just can’t find it in Colorado. These look amazing though. It’s worth clicking through just to see the patented squid necklace! (@ Food in My Beard)

Watermelon Margaritas – I’ve been on a pretty serious mixology kick recently although I haven’t been posting too many drinks that I’ve made. These, I think, are on my list of must-tries. (@ Crepes of Wrath)

How to Eat a Crawfish – I haven’t had crawfish in a long time, but I do really enjoy them. They are tasty, but also I like the environment around a good crawfish boil. This post does a great job of summing up the vibe. (@ Amateur Gourmet)

Cherry Apple Whiskey Poptails – It’s a popsicle. It’s a cocktail. It’s both. And I want it. (@ Endless Simmer)

Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. I cooked your strawberry leek quesadillas on Saturday. They were a wonder!! I had just a little of leek so I added green pepper, it worked perfectly.

Just these few words from Spain to thank you for your blog.

  2. Hi, you probably don't remember me, Emily "Johnson" Hunsaker, but I went to school with you, and I saw you in passing at the Island. I didn't go to the other activities. Anyway, I ran into your page a little bit ago and I think this is an amazing site! It is great to see a former classmate doing something this awesome! Keep up the good work!
