Mile High Food Writers

Mile High Food Writers

When I used to live in DC, there was an awesome group of DC area food bloggers that would get together occasionally for happy hours and stuff. It started as a small group, but I remember a few meetings where we would have 50 or so writers and bloggers there. Blogging can be a bit lonely at times and it was awesome to get out and meet other writers in the area.

I’m still friends with many of the people I met there actually!

For a while I’ve been wanting to start a similar group for the Denver area. I know there are a ton of food writers here.

So, I started one (with the help from Meghan from Cake N Knife)! It’s called The Mile High Food Writers Group! Our first happy hour is happening next week at The Punch Bowl Social. They’ve been nice enough to give us some free bowling and some great eat/drink specials.

If you happen to be a food writer in the Denver area (or know one!), join The Mile High Food Writers Facebook Group to find out more about our first happy hour!

I’m planning on having a happy hour or meet up every month or two!

The Links!

Here are a few timely links that caught my eye on the Internet this week.

Totcho Supreme – There is still basketball to watch this week and opening day for baseball next week! Seems like a good excuse to make some crunchy tater tots and top them with pretty much everything. (@ Real Food by Dad)

Pickled Beet Red Eggs – If you’re doing an egg hunt this weekend, you’ll more than likely have a ton of hard-boiled eggs. This is what I would do with them if I had them! I love pickled eggs and this is a super creative way to store them. (@ Food in Jars)

Malted Milk Chocolate Cupcakes – My favorite kinds of candy aren’t super-sweet. I tend to not like most Easter candy for this reason. It’s just too sweet for me. Any candy that’s “malted” though tends to be more my style. This cupcake creation is something I can get behind. (@ Brown Eyed Baker)

Salted Matzo Crack – Passover begins today. I don’t really celebrate it because I’m not Jewish, but if a few packages of matzo end up in my grocery cart this weekend, this will be why! (@ Brokeass Gourmet)

Have a great weekend everybody! If you happen to be a food blogger/writer in the Denver area, join the Facebook group and come say hi next week!
