The Internet Kitchen: Sochi Bad Idea

The Internet Kitchen: Sochi Bad Idea

Jump to Recipe

The Winter Olympics started last night (weirdly before the opening ceremony) and there is already a massive online collection of minor to major flubs that are happening in Sochi. From no drinking water to spy cameras in the showers, things aren’t going great!

To be honest, I think some if not most of these issues will be overlooked once the actual events start assuming there are no major issues with the actual competitions.

I have my personal doubts though and, for once, am very happy to watch the athletes on TV rather than in person.

Five Veggies For Lazy Cooks – This is a great starter list of veggies and there are some good suggestions in the comments also. If you’re new to the produce section some of these might be new to you but they are all dumb simple to prepare. Give them a shot. (@ Summer Tomato)

20 Carnivore Recipes – For some reason I always crave hearty, meaty dishes in the winter. Actually, I know the reason – because it’s toe-freezing cold outside. The short rib fettucini in this list caught my eye. (@ HuffPost Taste)

Chocolate Porter Berry Cobblers – When I first saw these I thought, Wow. I should make these for Valentines Day. Then I thought I’m not sure Betsy would like them. Then I thought, That’s okay. I’ll eat all of them. (@ The Beeroness)

Sichuan Twice-Cooked Pork Belly – Pork belly can be a bit tricky to prepare just because it’s so fatty. Double cooking it though will render out just enough of the fat and leave it super-tender. This is the perfect recipe for a cold February night. (@ Hunter Angler Gardener Cook)

  1. New Russia, old problems! Russian food is perfect for cold days, I hope they serve more than ham and cabbage.
