The Internet Kitchen: Breck-Bound

After my two knee surgeries over the last two years, I haven’t had a chance to ski or snowboard much.

My knee is feeling the best it has felt in years though so Betsy and I are heading into the mountains this weekend for a ski day. I’m actually going to snowboard because I think it’ll be a little easier on the joints, plus I’m a better snowboarder than skier.

Worst case scenario, I’ll make it down a few runs and then spend the day drinking bloody marys and watching basketball.

Either way it’s shaping up to be a good weekend!

The Links

Perfect Chicken Thighs – I’ve had a busy week, but to add to the list, I started writing for the popular website The Kitchn this week. This was my first recipe and it’s seriously one of my favorite ways to cook chicken. It’s almost fail-proof. Check it out! (@ The Kitchn)

Loubieh Bi Ziet – I’ve never heard of this exact dish but it looks delicious and a perfect way to make green beans that will very soon be available in markets. (@ PBS Food)

Soil for Potted Plants – A fantastic visual on the best ratio and layering to get really nice growth in potted plants. I’ll definitely be referring to this again as the growing season gets started. (@ Chasing Delicious)

Savory Oatmeal is a Thing – I’ve never actually tried this but I imagine that it’s very similar to one of my favorite savory breakfasts, congee. I can’t picture this being anything but delicious. (@ Amateur Gourmet)

Have a great weekend everyone. May all your basketball brackets stay intact!

  1. I’m not sure you know what “worst case scenario” means… ;-P Kidding! I’m just trying to enjoy this beautiful spring weather in New Orleans before it gets too humid. It’s crawfish season tho!! (Plus lots of fresh seafood generally! And festivals every weekend. I love this place!).
