This is a basic, but delicious homemade gravy recipe. Comfort food at its best!


2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons oil
1 cup chicken broth
Salt, to taste
1/2 teaspoon Kitchen Bouquet, optional


  1. Add the flour and oil to a saucepan over medium heat. Stir the flour and oil together until they form a smooth paste.
  2. Cook the roux until it is golden brown and smells nutty, about 1-2 minutes. 
  3. Add the chicken broth and whisk until smooth. If you like your gravy a little darker in color, add the kitchen bouquet. Taste the gravy and season with salt if needed. 
  4. Bring the gravy to a boil and continue whisking for 3 minutes. Smooth out any lumps. When the gravy has thickened, it is ready to serve.
