First Daddy DayJump to Recipe
My mom called me last weekend and as soon as I answered she greeted me with a big, “HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!” I was pretty sure that she was a week early on the greeting, but then again I also could see myself completely spacing my First Father’s Day of being an actual dad.
But no… I was right. Father’s Day is this weekend. My mom, in good spirits, quickly found something else to celebrate: “Well then HAPPY FLAG DAY!”
Everyday is some day right?
I get to take a little morning vacation this weekend for actual Father’s Day, which I’m very much looking forward to. Bets agreed to watch the dude in the morning and I’m gonna head out into the mountains for a long trail run. I haven’t been able to get out of the city for a hike/run since T’s birth so I’m really looking forward to it!
Running to the End – This is a fun little guest post I wrote this week for a friend who writes a running blog. It’s a plea to sort of forget all the tech at home sometimes and just enjoy exercising. If you want to get into trail running, this is also a great blog to get you started! (@ Rock Creek Runner)
Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream Pie – This is a crazy combination of all things I love. Most importantly, you don’t have to have your oven on for hours to make a great cheesecake. It’s probably the perfect summer dessert. I just wish I could make it appear in my freezer. (@ Smitten Kitchen)
Skillet Blueberry Cobbler – This time of year you can get huge containers of blueberries for a few bucks. It’s a great deal and baking them into a fun cobbler is sort of a no brainer. Love this version. (@ The Bitten Word)
Roasted Grapes with Sweet Labneh – I sort of a had a fruit crush this week. I cooked a lot of fruit dishes and my favorite recipes I spotted all involved fruit. I only recently starting cooking grapes (like in my grilled sangria), but it’s a really nice touch. These little cups look just delicious. (@ Molly Yeh)
Have a great weekend everybody and happy early Father’s Day to all the dads out there!
