Book Launch Karma!Jump to Recipe
Karma is a very real thing.
So, of course, Mother Karma would send me this gem for my first actual book:
I realize this makes me look like the Blogger Who Cried Book!
I also realize that if this were an April Fools joke, it would be the most elaborate one of all time. You order the book, open it, and it’s just 287 pages of blank paper with APRIL FOOLS written on the last page.
But, alas, if you order this book (and I do hope you order this book), you’ll instead get 288 pages of amazing recipes, photos, and Macheesmo wit.
Some of you may be lucky enough to own a hopefully weathered copy of the previous incarnation of this book called “Cornerstone Cooking.”
If that’s the case, then you know the general premise behind the book. If not though, let me give you a preview.
- The book is broken down into 14 recipe chapters (also there are informational chapters on equipment, pantry items, and meal planning).
- Each recipe chapter starts with a base recipe that you can make in bulk. The base recipes are also things that most people might have extras of like stock or beans.
For an example, my publisher was nice enough to let me share the entire RICE CHAPTER with you guys.
I love this chapter because it has the absolute best method for cooking rice in it. You can make a pound at a time and it’s perfect.
Then there are supporting recipes for all sorts of fun ways to use leftover rice.
(If you can’t see the embedded chapter above, here’s a link to it as well.)
I mentioned this on Friday, but I’m trying to get a rough feel for where the book is being stocked (and how). If you happen to see it on display in a local bookstore somewhere, please please pretty please snap a quick picture!
If you email it to me, or post it on Twitter or Facebook with the #loveyourleftovers hashtag, I’ll enter you in a random drawing to win one of two signed copies of the book.
I doubt there will be too many of these so your odds are probably pretty good if you do it. :)
THE BEST REVIEW
The best review I’ve gotten so far on it was from my very own mother. Granted she’s biased but she called me and I think was legitimately shocked at how great it turned out.
She said, “It’s sounds exactly like you.”
I guess that’s all you can really hope for as a writer.
So, if nothing else, if you like reading the blog, you will almost certainly like the book because, hey, it’s me.
This is a crazy, weird day for me. I never thought in a million years that a book (a cookbook even) would be in stores with my name on it.
It’s bonkers actually.
There are a lot of people that helped me over the last three years on this strange book journey.
And yes. It took me three years to write this. (Rachel Ray how do you do it?!)
But most of the thanks goes to anybody reading this blog. This is far from the largest cooking blog on the Internet, but I’m okay with that. I like being able to interact with you all personally each week.
It means a lot to me that you take the time to read and try the recipes and I could not have finished this sucker without you all.
If you’ve bought a copy already or plan to, THANKS. It means the world to me and I hope you love it.
Leave a comment with any questions or thoughts you have!
I’m probably going to take a few days off from the blog to decompress but will still be around answering questions per the usual!
