Ask the Readers: Whatcha Want?

On Friday, Betsy and I are going on an almost two week vacation to visit some friends in England and her brother in Amsterdam. We are going to swing through Scotland for a few days as well. I’ve never been to any of those places, so I’m really excited to see new places, eat new food and take lots of photos with some of my newly acquired photo skills.

While I’m gone, I will have pretty limited Internet access so I’m not going to be able to work on Macheesmo actively during that time (don’t worry, I have some posts scheduled to give you all something new to look at). While I won’t be working on it, I am going to spend some of the airplane time and walking time thinking about where I want Macheesmo to go in the next 6 months to a year.

But I thought I would give you all the opportunity to chime in on what you would like to see on Macheesmo. I created a quick poll of some ideas I’ve been tossing around. Feel free to check off as many as you find interesting.

Also, if there are things you would like to see that aren’t in the below list, leave a comment or shoot me an email. Thanks for reading everyone.

  1. I would like an index to search for items covered before.

I would like to be able to make recipe requests (like how to make something I had in a restaurant or bouht frozen).

I am not wild over food fights….

I enjoy the 1st of the month food focus

I like the healthy/organic posts and the cookbook reviews

  2. I'd love to see "What's in My Pantry?" (a la the pasta miscellany) become a regular feature, soliciting combinations from regular posters to figure out what to do when you need to clean out the fridge.

I'd also love to know, literally, what's in your pantry? What are the staple foods and spices you make sure you keep regularly stocked? A cool way to break it down might be one post to give an overview and then occasional posts to highlight individual items and all the different ways you use them regularly (maybe with links to past recipes?).

Otherwise, I have to echo all the blog love. Really impressed with both your dedication and your quality of work on Macheesmo!

  3. if you do videos, I'd only be interested in watching if it was footage of you doing the demonstrations (and not all hidden identity stuff!!)

  4. Take a trip with your camera through the Burough Market & tell us about it. I've heard it's incredible.

    Enjoy your trip!

  5. Hi Nick,

Bit late, but never the less, enjoy your website, not so much the food battle though!
Like your step by step photography. Would like to see a bit more veggie dishes and more easy to do quick dishes.

All in all a very creative blog. Well done and have a wonder filled break.
