A Small Refresh!
I keep a long list of website tweaks and changes on a little text document on my desktop. (I like the Stickies widget for Mac). When I get a critical mass of these, I like to try to implement them all at once!
This week was one of those weeks and you might notice a few changes on Macheesmo that will hopefully make things easier to find and use!
I’ve been posting recipes on Macheesmo for around EIGHT years now and am closing in on almost 2,000 posts. That’s sort of insane and it’s getting tough to find stuff on the site. To help out with this, I surveyed the most popular things people were searching for and made specific categories where you can find those recipes.
The Recipes Navigation now has all of these listed in a drop-down.
Easy Eats – Quick and easy dinners or lunches. These will typically take 30-45 minutes to make. If they take longer than they are mostly hands off.
Project Delicious – These are recipes that are near to my heart. They are “projects” because they might take longer than you have on a busy weeknight. But, for a casual Sunday this is where you want to look to find something really special.
Snack Time – Appetizers and snacks to ward off the Hangry.
Pantry Staples – Sauces, dressings, spice mixes, etc. Good stuff to have on hand!
Sweet Stuff – I don’t have a huge sweet tooth and generally only post a few dessert recipes, but the ones I do post live here!
Happy Mornings – Breakfasts and brunches to get your day off to a good start.
Thirst Quenchers – Cocktails, smoothies, and generally refreshing things!
We made a number of smaller changes that you might notice as you poke around the site. The site is generally wider now and hopefully easier to read. The print recipe page is nicer and includes a photo. Search pages are now formatted with pretty photos! The recipe area of a post now has the option to show/hide the directions right on the page above the step-by-step area!
I’m always always trying to improve the layout of Macheesmo and you can always email me if you have any suggestions or find something that’s clunky!
A Few Links!
I few links to kick off your Halloween weekend.
Easy Baked Chicken Egg Rolls – I started occasionally writing for the Deals Plus blog, The Plus Side! This is my first recipe on their site. I’ll be posting mostly easy dishes and appetizers. These were seriously delicious. (@ The Plus Side)
Have a great weekend everybody!
