A Decade of Macheesmo!

Jump to Recipe

If anybody has ever gone to the Macheesmo archives page and scrolled all the way to the bottom you would see that ten years ago yesterday I wrote and published my first post ever on Macheesmo. (Nobody has ever scrolled that far to my knowledge)

TEN years. In blogging age that makes me damn old. I feel like these days there are some Internet celebrities that are barely ten years old!

I started Macheesmo 10 years ago on a whim. I had just moved in with my girlfriend at the time (now wife) and decided I was going to be the cook of the family. The blog would keep me honest, I figured. Little did I know that I would fall in love with the girl and with the craft.

A LOT has happened since I wrote that first post and this small little part of the Internet has been with me through it all.

I made a fun little graphic to try to summarize just some of the things that have happened to me either because of this site or during the running of this site.

It’s crazy for me to look at and honestly looking at it almost makes me cry.

If you happen to be reading this, I’m sure Macheesmo has been a very small part of your life, but just know that that fact that you are reading it, has been a very BIG part of my life.

So, thanks and here’s to the next decade when I’m sure I will be able to beam recipes directly into your brain.

  1. I rarely comment but have been reading you since you lived in Grand Junction (I think). Congratulations! You are absolutely my go-to food site.

  2. Congrats on 10 years! I’ve been looking at your website for several years and love it! Thanks for the great recipes and information. I have made many of them. One of my boyfriend’s favorite meals is your Saving Salisbury. I make it a lot!

  3. I can’t remember exactly when or how I started reading, but I remember that you were not married yet and living in DC at the time. A lot has happened, but your website is still one that I check daily. Thanks for sticking around!

  4. Congrats Nick! Read this post in the middle of the night when I was up feeding by 2.5 week old baby boy. Talk about life changes! It’s been fun keeping in “touch” via this blog and seeing how your family has grown. I can’t wait to try some of your kid-friendly foods on our little guy when he gets older!

  5. Congratulations on a helluva decade! I, too, have just celebrated a decade at my job – it’s amazing how fast time goes. (I find that having kids gives you a great built-in way to monitor how fast time is whizzing past – my own are now 17 and 20!?) The infographic is a great summary of your accomplishments … onward and upward (those are some major stats, BTW). Be proud and pop some champagne!

  6. Thank you for your time and dedication to this blog. We’ve found so many great recipes, and seeing your family grow is such a fun bonus.
