I’ve been writing about food on the Internet for close to eight years now. Blogging years are like dog years so that makes me around 60 years old in blogging years.
To this day, one of the questions I get asked the most is how to start a website. Having a site of my own where I can write about what I want and express my views is one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life. Still, I love waking up everyday thinking about what to post next.
I’ve been meaning to get around to writing a resource for starting a website for, like, six years. I finally did it. It helps that it’s actually pretty darn easy to do these days.
You can easily set up a food blog (or a blog on any topic) in about fifteen minutes. I even tested the timing by setting up a new blog called The Tester Food Blog on the resource page.

Tomato Eggplant Stew over Polenta – See… this is where I learn something. Normally I would just default to serving a stew like this with some crusty bread, but over polenta?! That kind of just rocked me. Will you see a stew/polenta combo on this site soon? Probs. (@ Snixy Kitchen)
Wedding Desserts and Tips – This is a fantastic reminder of how much of a racket the wedding industry is. Betsy and I made most of our desserts five (FIVE?!) years ago when we got married and saved a boatload of money. If you have bakers as friends/family, it’s a great idea and very fun. What’s Going on With Food Blogging – I’ve loved Adam’s blog for many years and would consider him as sort of an institution in the food blog world, but I’m not sure I agree with all his points in this post. It’s an interesting read though if you are a food blog lover and I’m working on a fairly massive reply/response to it that I might publish in the next few weeks. (@ Amateur Gourmet)
