I have a stressful weekend ahead of me. I’m filming a short trailer video for my cookbook coming out in TWO (2!) months. Don’t worry, you’ll be hearing a lot about it in the next few weeks but I don’t feel the need to start really yapping about it months before it comes out.
Anyway, I’m working with a director and a food stylist to make a short video to really show off the premise of the book and we are filming it all on Monday which means I’m spending most of the weekend prepping for the shoot. I’m making lots of dishes in various stages, trying out different props, and generally just driving myself crazy.

The Importance of Family Meal - Some version of family meal (feeding those you are working with or care about) is why I started really learning how to cook. I also still remember the family meals from when I worked in restaurants. You can judge a lot about a restaurant by the quality of staff meals they produce. (@ Ruhlman)
Chemex Coffee - To be honest, I’ve seen these little things popping up all of the place and never been that intrigued by them. I make a decent pot of coffee in my french press and have a system down that works for me. That said, if you are curious about this new system, this is the easiest write-up I’ve read on how to do it.
