The Internet Kitchen: Photo Fiasco
I had a total photo freakout a few days ago. I had about 100 photos on my camera from various dishes, mostly for the cookbook, and for some unknown reason, I decided to delete them before I uploaded them to my computer.
This resulted in much cursing as you might imagine.
Luckily, I hit up Twitter, and a few nice people pointed me in the direction of some great recovery software. After a very worth it $40, I had all my original photo files back in about ten minutes.
The good news? Now that I own the recovery software I can mistakenly delete photos with reckless abandon.
The Poll
I feel like making some bread this week. You pick!
The Links
Healthy Rice Bowl - Many people start the new year looking for healthy dishes to make and this one is right up my alley. I actually make dishes like this a lot, but rarely post them. I love the colors in the dish and anything with an egg on top gets my vote. (@ A Couple Cooks)
Black Pepper Beef – This kind of reminds me of my black pepper tofu dish. Big pieces of black pepper really bring the beef to life. This is a warming winter meal for sure. (@ PBS Food)
12 Dips for Football – Some people might be eating healthy, but others might be enjoying the end of football season! Here’s a good round-up of dips that would go great with a beer and a good game. (@ Huff Post)
Chipotle Sweet Potato Rounds – More good football party food! These were originally for a New Year’s appetizer, but I don’t see why they wouldn’t be great for any weekend. (@ Make It Naked)

I’ve had the same happen to me. In my case, my card corrupted the images, and the RAW files. It was a lot of juggling to get them back. I wish I wish I’d known of your troubles, because I found an open source software that recovered my files for free.

OUch. Thanks Jason… at the time I definitely didn’t mind paying for it.

Care to name that free software? I have done it before but was too cheap to pay for the software.

I’ve been trying different Rye Bread recipes, but none have been great. . . Wonder what kind You’ll make!

Um, not that I’ve ever done this–I’m *much* too careful–but just in case would you care to share which software you used?

And since you’re on the subject of photography and it’s a hobby of mine, what equipment (body & lenses) do you use to shoot and what editing software?

Heya! I actually just got some new stuff that I love playing with. I’m shooting with a canon 5d mark 2 right now. I either use a 50mm macro lens or a 24-70 lens. I use photoshop to edit but lightroom is cool too.
The software I used was called card rescue. It lets you see the files but then if you want to recover them you have to pay for a license so you can make sure it’s going to work before you pay for it. Totally worth the $40 for the amount of photos it saved me… I’ve heard that there are free programs that will work also, but that one was easy to use and worked quickly.

Nick, this is my official vote for an update to the classic no-knead bread posts. If only because I’d love to see how you’ve modified your recipe/technique in relation to mine.
Regardless of the poll outcome, I think this would be an excellent update for 2013!
