The Internet Kitchen: Cookin’ Music

I pretty much always listen to music while I’m cooking. I actually have a hard time just cooking in silence.

There has been some really awesome albums that came out this year that I’ve been jamming to while in the kitchen so I thought I would share them. Here are five albums that came out this year that I can’t stop listening to.

Alabama Shakes – Boys and Girls
(Sample Song: Hold On)

Edward Sharpe and Magnetic Zeros: Here
(Sample Song: Man on Fire)

The Lumineers: The Lumineers
(Sample Song: Flowers in Your Hair)

Mumford and Sons: Babel
(Sample Song: I Will Wait)

Japandroids: Celebration Rock
(Sample Song: The House That Heaven Built)

If you have some great albums (new or old) that you love to listen to while you cook, leave a comment!

No poll this week because I’m traveling most of next week.

Best Food Articles of 2012 – A roundup of some of the better food writing that came out this year. I loved a lot of these articles and some were new to me. (@ Huff Post)

Pistachio Brittle – I’ve been obsessed with pistachios lately. I haven’t cooked anything with them because I tend to eat all of them before I can actually use them in a recipe. (@ Brown Eyed Baker)

Hot Chocolate on a Stick – I love looking at Heather’s desserts because they seem easy to make even if they look ridiculously good. Her book is also great. (@ Mod Cloth Blog)

Sweet Potato Skins – Who doesn’t love a good potato skin? I’ve never had the sweet potato version, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t also be delicious. (@ Sippity Sup)

Since you like The Lumineers and Mumford and Sons, I would recommend you check out Milo Green. Their song 1957 is awesome, and so is the entire album.

The Suburbs – Arcade Fire. It won a Grammy for a reason. Also, it makes me feel better about selling out on my old neighborhood for the much larger kitchen I now enjoy!

Oh man, you just opened a can of worms. I am going to keep it to my 5 most-played-while-cooking this year, and just newer albums. They are honestly all so great, you simply must check them out. In no particular order:

    -A.C. Newman–Shut Down the Streets (2012)
    -Eleanor Friedberger–Last Summer (2011)
    - Tree Party — Tree Party (2011), great stuff from Minnesota
    -The Walkmen — Heaven (2012)
-Communist Daughter– Lions and Lambs (2012), more great stuff from MInnesota

    Rock on.
