Guest Post: Mango Moonshine Boozer
Note from Nick: This delicious drink on a Monday is brought to you from Olga, the wonderful blogger over at Mango & Tomato. She did me a solid favor by sharing a favorite recipe during my Peru vacation. Enjoy the photos… enjoy the drink! All the photos in this post are copyrighted by Olga Berman.
Over the summer, I received an awesome present from Mango.org: a box of mangos.
They must have figured out that I love mangos.
Of course that got me thinking about what I could get in the mail if I renamed my blog Diamonds and Platinum or Caviar and Lobster, etc.
But let’s get back to the topic.
This time, I thought I’d do something different. I’ve had an unopened bottle of Moonshine courtesy of Troy & Sons from my Asheville trip, and decided to open it up and make a fun drink using it and mangoes.
Mango Moonshine Boozer
Yield: 2 drinks
1 cup diced mango
1/3 cup Moonshine
1 cup crushed ice
1) Add all ingredients to a blender. Blend till smooth.
2) Poor into cold glasses. Garnish with mint.
4) Optionally, you can pour drink into ice cube trays and freeze solid for little bites.
There’s nothing to this recipe. Just chop up the fruit and blend it with booze and some ice until it’s nice and smooth!
Note from Nick: I’m very jealous of the below bottle of booze.
For a bit of color, you can also add a dash of pomegranate or cranberry juice!
These were pretty strong, I must admit. I didn’t think I could drink an entire glass, not to mention two. So I poured the mixture into an ice tray and made boozy popsicles!
All you have to do is let the mixture freeze for about ten minutes, then add toothpicks and continue to freeze till these become solid. Or of course you could also use popsicle molds.
Another note from Nick: If I can get my hands on some good mangos you better believe I’m making a batch of these as soon as my flight lands!
I wonder if you could use other fruits? If you have any good ideas, leave a comment!
