The Internet Kitchen: Happy Birthday Jamie

I really love getting emails from readers. It’s one of my favorite things about this website. I try to respond to all of them that I get and, if I can, I try to make what people request eventually.

About a week ago I got a wonderful email from a reader who asked if I could make something special for her boyfriend (who is apparently my numero uno fan). It is his birthday today and she wanted to surprise him. After chatting with her for a bit about what her boyfriend likes, we settled on a pie with “rhubarb and something else.”

After thinking about it, I came up with a rhubarb pie that I believe has never been made before (according to the Internet). As a food blogger, I can tell you that that is a rare thing. Almost everything has been made before.

I’ll post the full recipe tomorrow along with her original hilarious email that convinced me to do this. I sent her the recipe early so she can make the pie for him today for his actual birthday.

So, happy happy birthday JAMIE and I hope you like the pie.

All good recipes today.

Smoked Salmon Frittata - I really love smoked salmon in the summer. Most of the time I just want it on a bagel with cheese and capers, but this looks equally good and would be a fun way to feed a crowd. (@ Healthy Delicious)

Spicy Korean Grilled Pork - Betsy and I recently discovered a small Korean place in town that’s in a strip mall but has really good food. I keep meaning to reproduce some of their recipes. This recipe looks amazing. (@ The Bitten Word)

Peanut Butter Sandwiches with Bacon Cream Cheese - I’m not usually a fan of putting bacon in stuff just for the sake of it, but this combo just looked too good to not link to. (@ Vanilla Sugar)

Lemon Cheesecake in a Jar - There were some awesome ideas in comments on my Wednesday post about what to do with all the jars I recently received. Then this post popped up on my reader. Fate! (@ My Baking Addiction)

You do know a pariah is not a good thing, right? But a rhubarb-plum pie sounds like a VERY good thing. Thanks!!
