The Internet Kitchen: Turkey Day Prep

by Nick

I can’t believe that Thanksgiving is less than two weeks away!  As you might guess, I have a pretty full menu planned for the day although I tend to not venture too far from traditional dishes.

The next two weeks on Macheesmo are pretty much going to be all Thanksgiving related dishes.  Next week, I’ll be doing some fun recipes that you might want to try out on the big day.  On the actual week of Thanksgiving, I’ll be doing leftovers week to give you some ideas for how to use all your leftovers!

Of course this means that Betsy and I are basically having two Thanksgivings in a row.

Life is hard.

For the poll this week…

And a few links!

How to Tell if Baking Powder is Good - Most people will be making something with baking powder in it over the next few weeks.  Most people also don’t know that it can actually go bad.  Not bad as in like hurt you, but bad as in it won’t work anymore! Here’s a quick trick to see if yours is still good.  (@ David Lebovitz)

Kimchi Omelet - I’m posting an omelet tomorrow actually, but not this one.  This one caught my eye and I just can’t stop thinking about it.  This is mostly like due to my mild kimchi obsession.  (@ Steamy Kitchen)

New York Crumb Cake - Crumb cake is one of my favorite treats.  I actually like it for breakfast sometimes with a tall cup of coffee or tea.  This one looks awesome.  (@ Sticky Gooey Creamy Chewy)

Bro Mac and Cheese - My blog friend Dan has been posting “Bro” recipes all week.  I love this recipe because you don’t have to make a bechemel sauce but you still end up with an awesome creamy mac and cheese.  (@ The Food In My Beard)
