Around the Internet Kitchen: Crunch Time!

It’s really crunch time for me this weekend getting ready for the launch of 55 Knives on Tuesday.  I have a to-do list of about 100 things, but you know what?  It’s gonna get done!  I feel like I’m at that last 1/4 mile of a marathon.  Not that I’ve ever ran a marathon, but I imagine that it must be kind of like this.

I’m really excited to get it out the door and I’ve been not only tweaking the book itself over the last week or so but also making sure that all the payment processes are secure and seamless.  If anything, I’ve definitely learned a huge amount about eCommerce because of this project.

But enough about the book for now.  You’ll hear more about it next Tuesday!

I’m definitely going to be cooking this weekend because, well, that’s a stress reliever for me believe it or not.  I want to cook something summery and refreshing.  Your choice!

What to Eat, What to Avoid - There’s some mounting evidence that over-exposure to a lot of pesticides in food can lead to a number of health issues.  Which, when you think about it, makes complete sense.  You’re eating something that kills things.  It just can’t be great for you.  But some foods are way more prone to have pesticides used on them and also retain those pesticides.  This is a cool photo journal of the best and worst of the bunch.  The general idea is that the worst things on this list, you should try to buy organic if that’s your thing. Dungeons and Dragons Cola - Ok.  So it’s true that I used to play Dungeons & Dragons like it was my job.  I had a lucky set of dice.  I had a character that I’d spent more time on than any one thing at that point in my life.  Honestly, I kind of miss it!  This is an amazing thing that Jones Soda is doing.  They are giving me the ability to actually purchase a healing potion.  Damn right I’m a sucker for this. Not a Salad – So this is, in fact, not a salad!  It’s a pesto.  But it looks really good.  And I love every single part of the pesto and what goes on top.  Plus Michelle is hilarious. (@ Thursday Night Smackdown)

Pickled Shrimp – I must say that I’ve never heard of this but it sounds right up my alley.  I tend to love pickled things and I love all the spices that are included in the pickling mix.  Gonna have to put this one on the “To Try” list. (@ Sippity Sup)
