Too (two?) many references to kitchen wounds in this post! Thanks for the list. I had my Amazon wish list open on another screen and got to add a couple of things I didn't think about.

Is this how you tell people what you want for Christmas? GOOD IDEA.
There are 8 of those on my wish list right now. Things to add:

Mezzaluna (a must for cutting herbs)
Nutmeg grinder (you won't know how you lived without it)
Crepe spatula (looks like a curved sword) really works
Cheese Knives (adding to my list)
Artisan salts
Good peppercorns
Whisks of any and every size

And, finally, my most favorite stocking stuffer, a gift certificate for $300 for Le Creuset store.

since i moved to buenos aires i've fallen in love with fresh squeezed orange juice! its everywhere...people sell it on the street, literally squeezing the oranges in front of you and tossing the empty peels in a giant pile behind them. and its so easy to do at home, i make it every morning...so maybe another good stocking stuffer would be a orange juicer. basic, cheap, but with delicious results!

ps love your blog...i'm also from the DC area (PG county Murrrland worddup!) and i really like your approach to cooking--be fearless!!

Great list. I would add a mini whisk. It comes in handy for mixing up small amounts of marinades and other liquids.
