No I’m not giving away $1,000. Unfortunately. What I did notice though is that we are rapidly approaching the 1,000th comment on Macheesmo! I’m pretty excited about that as getting comments on posts is one of my favorite parts about having this site so far. The wonderful reader who posts the 1,000th comment will get a brand new copy of a cook book of their choice that I’ve reviewed on Macheesmo!
Of course, I won’t tell you how close we are to 1K comments, as that would defeat the purpose. I’ll tell you this though – the comment count is somewhere between 900 and 999. So worst case scenario you have about a 1% chance of winning a free book :) All you have to do is make a little comment. And obviously it doesn’t have to be on this post. It can be on any Macheesmo post you like.
Also, don’t even try going into the archives (which lists number of comments for each post) and add up all the comments. One, that would be totally lame. Two, I edited out that field so it won’t show that again until after the 1,000th comment.
Write a comment. Win a book (maybe). Here are some links to give you something to talk about.
10 Greatest Grilled Cheeses – Grilled Cheese month is over and here is a nice little memory of the month. I’m not sure if I would call this list the greatest as it fails to include The Number 48 or Pesto and Brie, but it’s a really good start! (@ Womans Day)
Cheap but Tasty! – I loved this article. Everybody always gets in such a huff about the prime cuts of meat. In my opinion though, the sign of a really good cook is taking something that nobody else wants and turning it into something delicious. This article touches on that approach. (@ NY Times)
One Year of Pete Bakes! – It’s the one year anniversary of Pete-bakes.com, one of my fave cooking blogs and recent Foodie Fights winner. Everyone should stop by and wish him a happy 1 year. Also, he makes a killer funfetti cake. (@ Pete Bakes)
As an aside, Pete and I recently learned that we live about 8 blocks away in the real world. We are doing a food blog battle this weekend and actually meeting up to taste each other’s creations. Posts on Monday. Should be awesome.
Homemade Hot Sauce - Let me tell you a secret that I learned during my homemade brat experience: Rex does mess around with his cooking. If he says he is making hot sauce, I guarantee you it won’t be a wussy mild version. It will be toasty. The 6 habaneros that he uses are just a start. (@ Savory Reviews)
Have a good weekend everyone! Leave a comment!
