  1. I agree that any grilled cheese list absolutely, positively must include Brie cheese. Have I mentioned that I’d be quite happy to eat a wedge of Brie in one sitting?

  2. I can hardly wait for Monday’s post, with Pete Bakes. I hope you will take lots of pictures!

  3. I can’t find the post where you listed some of your favorite food blogs but I thoroughly enjoyed it!!! Also, I purchased “The Flavor Bible”, based upon your review and I love it!!! Looking forward to buying “The Bread Baker’s Apprentice”. Don’t remember how I found your blog but I look forward to my emails for new posts. Thinking also of starting my own blog…….Thanks!

  4. Hmmmm, thinking about making that homemade sandwich bread this weekend, but not the one that requires the special pot, as I don’t have a special pot.

I can never make myself make a homemade bread without throwing some kind of spice in it. I just can’t do it. Any suggestions for some good spice combos in bread?

  5. Can’t look at any more grilled cheese. Just can’t.

  6. Man, you’ve reviewed some awesome cookbooks. I’ve got ABin5 and I am completely obsessed with it, but I’d love to get my hands on a copy of Ratio or the Breadbaker’s Apprentice.

  7. I love Pete bakes!

  8. I think the “Revamped Grilled Cheese” on the top ten listing sounds like it could be near the top in my book … still have to try your Pesto and Brie though!

  9. My son eats grilled cheese for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I would love to be able to join him. My rear-end kindly asks that I do not.

  10. Ah, I see what you are doing here. You comment whore, you! I never win anything though, so I’m sure this is comment 999. That would be par for the course for me.
    Have a good weekend :)

  11. Looking forward to seeing your post on no-knead bread sans le creuset.

@Sam, if you can’t wait the few weeks, try the recipe exactly as is, then bake your bread in your biggest all-metal pot. I use my stockpot for this all the time.

  12. Ok I’ll stop lurking…

That grilled cheese list looks yummy, but there’s nothing wrong with a plain old no-frills grilled cheese. I like mine with some white american cheese, maybe some tomato. And a bowl of tomato soup. Yum.

Nick – ever been to Founding Farmers for lunch? They do a grilled cheese and tomato soup that is really good, and reasonably priced (and the menu doesn’t say that it comes with fries…but it does!).

  13. Looking forward to a great *photoblog* of you & @PeteBakes testing each other’s creations!

  14. this weekend’s food battle is going to be TIGHT. can’t wait.

  15. one of the few things in this world that i really truly know… is that mashed potato pizza is delicious. especially when there’s bacon on it.

  16. i also have to second the idea of you reposting the no-knead bread in a not so expensive pot… the bread looks great, but the pot looks like something i might potentially never own.

  17. Homemade hot sauce! I’m such a hot sauce addict, I usually have 2 homemade ones in my fridge at all times.

  18. thats crazy that you met another foodblogger online that only lives 8 blocks away- small world!

  19. I made The Number 48 grilled cheese the other day, yum. And I’m planning on making the mashed potato pizza soon. Should have time for that soon! Can’t wait.

I’ve really been enjoying your blog. Starting reading it a few weeks ago. The pictures always look so good.

  20. I didn’t make the bread yet, but found a great loaf from the farmer’s market to tie me over. I enjoy reading your site.

  21. …and I’m just trying to win your contest by leaving random comments. :)

  22. Congrats on your blog success! I’m very happy to have found your blog, and make it part of my regular recipe reading.

  23. You should’ve just strapped on a pair of knee highs and hit U St.
