Around the Internet Kitchen: Spring Time!

It is cold, rainy, and generally crappy weather in DC these days, but officially it is Spring time. This means a few things. First, I shaved my beard. I do this every Spring but it is always shocking how it immediately trims 10 years off my age.

Second, I planted my small indoor herb garden. I have 4 pots that I try to grow something in every year. This year my selections are: basil, parsley, cilantro, and chives. I also have a pretty good sized rosemary plant growing from last year. So far the little guys are growing great despite the horrible weather outside.

Meat MadnessA complete bracket of meats where the readers actually vote on winners in each competition. An awesome idea that was imitated by some ESPN guy. Eick started it though and his is far superior. (@ So Good)

  1. I really enjoyed that Bittman article. Makes me feel better about buying produce that's on sale at Piggly Wiggly instead of treking to Whole Foods to pay about 20% to 40% more.

    (Though there are times that I wonder what I'd do without Whole Foods for quality cheese and meat…)

    It's like, hey, at least I buy produce on a regular!

  2. I've got my mini-herb garden in DC too…basil, parsley, rosemary and chives. I also have a jalepeno plant and a bell pepper plant. Everything is sprouting except for the bell! Any ideas?
