I love your list. About the broth and noodles, I've gotten hooked on "Better than Bouillion," which comes in beef, chicken and vegetable and is way better than cubes.

Other foods that make me feel better are good rice pudding made with arborio rice and golden raisins; scrambled eggs; and bread pudding made with challah and topped with whiskey sauce. Another one is my Pennsylvania Dutch mother's cracker pudding, which is made with eggs, milk, sugar and Saltines. And anything with a real vanilla bean.

Jeez. All comfort food and nothing healthy there! Add arugula.

Your list is interesting--a tempting combination of healthy and not. But it's all about balance, eh?

What foods make me feel great the next day? Porridge with honey, lemon water, and almost any pasta dish. Oh, and coming back to something on your list, I LOVE dark chocolate. It manages to be rich without being too sweet. I often have a square or two of 70% cocoa for dessert.

What makes me feel great right away? Um ... does a big glass of Merlot count? ;)

@Karolinka: Yea lentils are a great addition. Maybe I should post my recipe for man-lentils sometime soon...

@jkelly: YES. That is definitely one of my favorite things. Well, I've never tried the brand that is on your site, but good tomatoes and salt can be out of this world.

Thanks for the comments!

How about heirloom tomatoes with Nicoise Olive sea salt? From a (biased) artisan salt-maker's perspective, flavored Fleur de Sel salts beautifully accentuate natural ingredients. Not only that, they're user-friendly and fun to experiment within the kitchen.

What about lentils? I know they aren't that sexy but I think that they are good for your soul. As my dad would say: they'll make you a better person!
